"...a good bit of fun..."
--Tangent Online, on "Courting Hell"

"...funny, superbly written and engaging... tongue-in-cheek murder mystery...The story twists and turns harder than a high Alpine road, and Gella's resolution of the mystery came out in a way I did not at all expect. Dianne's pungent writing style complements Gella's gritty narration perfectly."
--SFReader, on "Gella Murphy: Public Dick"

"I can't think of another bunch of authors I'd rather be published with. No, really; all my favorites are long dead."
--Sally Kuntz, author of "Froggie"

"Really original."

Post Post

Bouncing around the net, trying to fill some agony time, I came across shipping prices that made me eyes bleed.

Now, normally, I wouldn't find this shocking, but this wasn't Canada Post, it was for the US *to* Canada, and yet the price was more than twice what it would cost me to ship them something. When did that happen? Americans drove me absolutely insane back in my eBay days by resolutely insisting media mail was a worldwide phenom by which anyone could mail anything up to and including the size of an obese elephant for $2. Facts and reason and Canada Post website be damned.

Anyway, I found this turn highly amusing. I also decided since CP's prices have finally settled out--at one point, I was at their website, in the middle of the night, and watched them raise the price twice from one refresh to another--to relist my ABU auctions. What the hey. Sure, I might not get any sales, but I don't have to apologise for the postage anymore...:P

The Cryptogram

I'm officially 33% done my current Gutenberg project, another De Mille novel. It's a looooong one. I'm estimating about 200,000 wrds, but it's a quick read. That's what talent does.

I'm frustrated by how slow it's going. I average a few pages a day, but it's still moving forward, and that's a good thing. Anything positive is good. And this text will last a lot longer than I will.

I'm not getting much else done. The pain has been really bad this month. I'm barely managing sleep; I get a few minutes here and there, that's it. But Hissy is still guarding my feet, and the Spousal Unit insists I'm strong enough to make it. Of course, the S.U. will never accept otherwise...

I was hoping to get two books done for Gutenberg before summer, but it looks like it might only be one. Still, it all counts. :P

We no longer have comments.

People, a few, but plenty enough to be filthy, were using the comment function for hate speech. Now, I'd dealt with this up to now by nuking such messages, but that means I have to *read* them. If I turn on moderation, that won't help, and, even if I didn't have much worse things going on right now, honestly, my eyeballs never need to see such awful shit. I know too well the world has revolting people without letting them spit in my face to prove it.

So those people will have to go be hateful somewhere else. Like, say, the rest of the net. *gag*

To the regular commenters who did have intelligent things to say, I'll miss you and I apologise, but a few hateful people always ruin the good stuff for everyone else...

ps. I was back in the ER, screaming and writhing and IVed for all of Monday, so I really have *nothing* left to deal with people who aren't worth the carbon their pathetic bodies are made of...

What I Already Know

So 2009 is, so not surprisingly, already being a letdown. I ended up back in the ER, vomming blood and such.

The admitting nurse actually gave me a lecture. That if I didn't want to be back in the ER, what I had to do was have surgery. She was damn lucky I was exhausted by more than 24hrs of a growth pain / migraine attack, because, instead of clawing her face off and vowing to eat her young, I just managed to say I was *trying* to have surgery dammit, but the damn hospital keeps moving it back. She then added how the organ problem was going to lead to severe strangulation issues which meant some real ugly pain...and again, me today could grab her by the throat and say 'LOOK AT ME!? For fucks sake! DOESN'T this LOOK like severe pain to you?'

But blood vomiting super agony me couldn't be fucking bothered to waste the strength to even say 'I KNOW.'

I had to wait for more than an hour in the waiting room, which was grim because it was afternoon, not early morning, and not only did the hoard clustered in there like to shout random shit at each other in steady stream, but they kept lurching violently in and out of their chairs. The chairs in the waiting room are all connected with bars, so every time the stupid fuckers threw themselves around, which was CONSTANTLY, my stomach tried to void more blood. Yea.

When I did get out back, they shoved an IV in me again. It's the ugliest bit of the hospital, next to the hatred spewed by nurses. I can't explain WHY the IVs hurt so much, but my veins are convinced it would be smarter to just hack off my whole arm. For extra fun, the nurse who removed my IV had no idea what she was doing. And she managed to rip an extra big hole in my elbow and my body decided to hell with clotting and, in a second, it bled enough to overwhelm a 3x3 (huge wad of gauze). My brain, which likes to torture me, keeps picturing all that blood. *shudder*

And you want the kicker? The Spousal Unit commented on the way home: that was one of the better ER visits.

And the sucky bit is, that's so true...

We Bid ABU...

Since I had no bids or interest on my items at ABU, and Canada Post just MORE THAN DOUBLED their already ridiculous extortionist rates, I just gave in and ended my auctions early. :/

If you want my art, you can still get some at Zazzle.

My knits, alas, cannot go there...

Print This

This is not a real update, as nothing has changed, except in the wrong way. My medical condition is worse.

My situ is bad enough to require a second, far more dangerous surgery. But outbreaks of superbugs at my hospital means surgeries have been delayed, and my new op date isn't until June.

So we are waiting, and fighting as hard as we can.

But, in the meantime, we need more positives. The Spousal Unit has offered unlimited help in this. We'll be offering some of my work--prints, original paintings, and knits--through ArtByUs. It was on hold until I get better, but I might never get better.

ABU also lets me make charity auctions. I will be making some for the Humane Society, of course. They will be clearly marked.

If you've always ached to have a piece of something I made, here is your chance:
